The Northern Indigenous Arts Council (NIAC) is seeking Indigenous artists, art supporters and community leaders to join our general membership and our Board of Directors

Do you have a strong passion for the arts and want to support or be a part of a group of Indigenous artists
working to provide Indigenous artists in Northern BC with equitable and accessible opportunities for
professional development, promotion and production of their work?

You have come to the right place!

The Northern Indigenous Arts Council is a proactive Council of Northern Indigenous artists who:

  • are inclusive, accessible, responsive and equitable
  • address issues facing Indigenous artists in Northern British Columbia
  • advocate for Indigenous artists in Northern British Columbia
  • pursue and provide support and resources for Indigenous artists in Northern British Columbia
  • seek to create an Indigenous arts industry in Northern British Columbia where all Indigenous artists feel welcomed, supported and valued.

A few of our exciting initiatives have included:

Partnership with Diversified Transportation Ltd. – Indigenous art placed on 4 of BC Bus North buses running between Prince Rupert and Prince George, Prince George and Valemount, Prince George and Fort St. John, and Fort Nelson and Dawson Creek.

Supporting the Prince George Symphony Orchestra - The Hummingbird and the Fire - connecting an elder/artist narrator and assist with this project.

Group Art Exhibitions at the House of Ancestors, Prince George Public Library and Omineca Arts Centre.

Indigenous Arts Festival – 3-day event in collaboration with Lheidli T’enneh, Two Rivers Remix, and Omineca Arts Center including Indigenous vendors, performers and group art exhibition.

Indigenous Arts Symposium – a celebration of Indigenous art at the ‘Uda Dene Baiyoh – House of Ancestors’ with keynotes, workshops and a group exhibition.
